Private Underground Utility Locator

Job Summary:
As a Private Underground Utility Locator, you will be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utility lines, ensuring the safety of customers when they dig. This is a full-time position that requires outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Essential Goals, Functions, and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret utility maps to identify utilities.
Accurately mark the location of public and private underground utilities.
Respond to emergency locate requests after hours.
Operate electronic detection equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar.
Expose buried utilities using a shovel, when necessary.
Document all locate tickets with pictures and sketches.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
Foster positive relationships with customers, homeowners, and contractors.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
Operate efficiently for productive workdays.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Basic computer knowledge; familiarity with GPS/mapping systems preferred.
No prior locating experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Capability to walk up to 5 miles a day in various weather conditions.
Must use all required personal protective equipment.
Job Type:
Full-time (No less than 40 hours per week)
8-hour shifts
Day shift, Monday to Friday
On-call availability
Experience:
Computer skills: 1 year (Required)
Utility locating: 1 year (Preferred but not required)
License/Certification:
Driver’s License (Required)
